A useful principle

In the dark hours before the dawn pilgrims can likely ask themselves…

“Why am I out of bed?”

“Why am I far from home?”

For a neophyte regretful questions may become insistent. Anyone who encouraged them to roll into the Essex night may become the target of bitter recrimination.

If you talk to someone who’s never ridden a DD, or 200 km, or dusk to dawn through a summer night, outline the opportunity but be sure to leave the decision clearly with them.

NEVER SEEK TO PERSUADE SOMEONE TO RIDE THE DUNWICH DYNAMO FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Love the Dunwich Dynamo – I have now done it 3 times spread over the last 30 years – My first was done in 1993 – I still have the original flyer/leaflet and my brevet card! I was in Mosquito bikes and was asking about rides and one of the team told me about the Dunwich Dynamo and I decided to go for it – I have decided to do it again this year, some 31 years on from when I first did it – but probably a lot slower!
